Are my cams any good?

Did you perform a compression test before you took it apart?
Have the cylinders honed and the bearings checked, a decent motorshop should be able to get the rings you need.
Do not use new stock toyota rings, they are too soft for an aftermarket homing pattern; they wear too much.

But what are your power goals?

The only motorshops that I have in town can only get me stock parts and can't get anything for my JDM 1JZ!! Does the 2JZ piston rings work for the 1JZ? And does changing the headgasket change compression?

The 2jz piston rings will work fitment wise, but won't hold the honing your motorshop will perform. Toyota uses a really mild honing which they can do because it is new. This type of honing doesn't work on a used engine as it is too mild. The honing a motorshop will perform will need harder rings.

If you replace the stock hg with a stock it won't change the compression. If you change a 1jz with a 2jz it also won't change compression. But you might wanna read this topic: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47831
If you replace the stock hg with an aftermarket hg which is thicker than 1mm you will lower the compression. When you do that you also will need camgears to set the cam timing right again.

IDK about you guys, but um... That's the worst looking internals of a motor i've ever seen.

My opinion? Part it out, and buy another from a better company like Jhot. I'll put a dollar bill that motor will have rod knock on startup.

Well, I eventually want to push out as much power as possible, so I want to up compression! And I know I can do that by getting a thinner headgasket and changing my piston rings. I was thinking of getting the 1.0mm HKS stopper headgasket for the 1JZ. But I have no idea where to get non-stock piston rings for my 1JZ cuz I have nowhere close by that will touch a JDM motor!!!

How many have you seen in real life? Oil build up doesn't mean you will get rod knock straight away. So far it only tells it's done quite some miles and it could have had more oil changes.

H-Dogg, for the second time, what are your power goals with this engine? That will tell the route forward.

I'd be happy with 500whp but would like to eventually see 1000+whp! (I know it's possible) I don't have a huge income so I have to build it up gradually to that point.

Will it be worth uping my compression now since I have the engine apart, even though I will only be running stock twin when I first put the engine in my supra?

With an income of $6.50/hr, you can't build a 500whp 1JZGTE, let alone 1000whp. Be honest with yourself. The price of a turbo/fuel/ecu to make 1000whp is more then what you make in 2 years if you never spent a dime.

I think with 500 you should be ok, but 1000hp to be realistic will require New internals all around. Not that these are bad but they do look beat up. You will demand so much out of your engine that everything must be on point with little room for error.
That dude that everybody talks about making over 1k hp on a 1jz, He a close friend and trust me he's spent more money on his car then many of us make a year. He literally was blowing 1 engine per month doing R&D. Your fuel system has to be your biggest concern, the reason he blew so many.
Anyways, I tell you this to have an expectation. Not that you can't do it. Alot of tech support from people and trial and error.

It's not just a dude, it's a shop. BRHD or whatever the acryonym is.

To do 1k on a 1JZGTE, you need aftermarket rods/pistons. Those alone cost a couple grand. It's not cheap to do, but no 1000hp motor is. A 1000whp 2JZGTE costs when all is said and done around 25 grand. A 1JZGTE is no different.

Dre, the reason S--L-y blows motors so often is because he lets too many shops touch his car. he is also running a 2jz bottom not 1jz
