I never said carbs were superior...just the first line of my post...cheaper and easier to make more power. I also said FI was better for the street. Of course if you add all kinds of sensors, computer software, etc, its going to run better with more parameters and input to base it off of, I was just trying to say its less work and money to make more power on a v8(notably a chevy, not saying a toyota v8). When i built my 305 monte carlo a few years ago, I just put on a 1975 ish holley 600 cfm, very very used. The way it sat it ran perfect on that motor, not to rich or lean, and made tons of power. The fuel economy of course sucked, but it was liveable. it was about 14-16 mpg average. When i get my license and had that car gas was also 1.30 a gallon so i honestly didnt care..20$ got me a full tank.

So, back to the AR5 here for a second:

limequat, when you had the two transmissions apart, trying to swap the rear housings over, did you happen to measure the shafts to see if they were the same diameter/spline?

I would be very interested to see if we could install the triple cone synchro gears into the R154. At the very least, swapping over a taller 1st and/or 5th would make me happy too.

lol... fate rewards the adventurous.

im sure the UR would be a tight fit since its a 4cam
1uz is a quad cam as well.

UZ drops in from what I understand (at least with the 90+ subframe)
nope, you would need custom mounts, just like the MKIV supras. I have a 2jz in an sc400, custom motor mounts, ide assume it was the same for a 1uz in something else.

They are neither the same diameter nor spline.

That's right, back from the dead.

Has there been any progress on this in the last year? I've got a 2wd 5 speed Colorado I'm thinking of yanking the transmission out of for the Supra :D

For anyone wondering where that shifter setup is on the Colorado:

Have you measured shifter placement with the Colorodo version? I think it would be about 6" forward of the current location...

The Supra is undergoing a super secret motor swap. Here's a teaser:

Hint: Displacement is > 3.5L

One hint:

Engine code start with an L....

Careful, don't give away my secret ;)

I'm surprised you got it. Even if you recognize the engine on sight, it looks different without the mainfold and cam cover.
