There is a huge Toyota meet coming up in East Tennessee. Although it is most actively discussed on CelicaTech at the moment, we hope to see all kinds of Toyota variations. There will be Celica All Tracs, MR2s, and at least 2 Supras I know of for sure (coming with us; 2JZ MkIII, 7M MkII). We have over 50+ cars signed up on CelicaTech alone, in addition to all the other forums for which we have advertised. Cars are coming from as far as Canada and Washington State!

I know a lot of members live rather close to this area already, making it easier to attend than some others.

I truly hope to see some of you there!

Copied from CelicaTech:

After voting we have settled on the dates of April 17th through 19th for the Annual Celicatech Dragon Run.

For the uninitiated, The Dragon is a stretch of road that lies between Tennessee and North Carolina, it is known by many names, but it is officially known as US Highway 129. It is a marvelous stretch of road known to automotive enthusiasts the entire world over.

This is the 3rd year for this version of our meet, but it is the evolution of the Pigeon Forge meet, which was held for many years prior.

We have anticipated a very high turn-out this year, as we have people come in from all over the country. This is an open invitation to all Toyota Owners, and will be posted across several boards.

This will be my third year hosting it, and to be honest, it is the highlight of my year. I enjoy seeing me friends and making new ones.

Now, some of you might be asking, 'Why is it called the Dragon Run?' Well, let me explain.

We are car fanatics. And the reason we love cars, is that we love to drive them. So in a departure from typical meets, we plan this around driving. Driving through the Great Smokey Mountains and enjoying some beautiful sights and comradeship.

This year we intend to make several runs of the Dragon, and come down the Cherohala Skyway as well.

This is our intended route.

Original 7MGTE chassis, swapped for 2JZ-GTE. Engine was originally GTE, and converted to single. Its been running for quite a while, but we're not in TN. We're in Asheville, NC - somewhat close to TN border.

Great meet, great group of people.

If I still lived in TN I'd be there. I still have my shirt from the 1st PF meet when we were getting kicked out of parking lots and staying in a cabin. That was the only time I've ever seen 3 black 6g Celica ST Hatchbacks side by side racing through the streets. ;)

And the Dragon's Tail is an amazing road. Anyone that hasn't been there should definitely go just to drive it. Like the pic says, 318 turns in 11 miles (with a speed limit that most will never hit). Just be respectfull of the bikes on the road and you'll have a blast. Camcorders and extra cash for the go-carts are a must.

I'd like a bit more information as to when the knoxville people are meeting. I'm going to bust my ass to get my car finished for this.

Also, you said that lodging was going to be at Cedar bluff during the duration of the meet, or just prior?

Keep me posted.

Since people are coming from all over North America (yes including Canada), the lodging is for the full weekend. Since Knoxville is easier to find for the out-of-towners, thats how they set it up. Since the people from Knoxville dont really need lodging, I believe that everyone is meeting up at the Cedar Bluff area before the meetings. The exact times will be set up closer to the date so that we know what day/time everyone is arriving.

I might try to shoot out to your area the friday before the meet then roll from there with you.

We're actually going to be headed up there Thursday, but let me know if you want to meet up with anyone from A-Town on your way through. We have a few friends that are coming down later than we are. Should be Richard/MR2, Justin/MkII 7MGTE Celica Supra, and a few others. I can try to help you organize a gathering/caravan.

That would be very cool. Id also like to see if someone would be open to splitting a room. That will be the biggest hitch for me. I am also going to see if I can lure any other flatlanders out.

Any of ur guys that are goin out later ones that I know?

I really want to go, but I don't think I'll have the new 7M in place by then. Even if it is, I'm slated to be on the other half of the country that week.

Why couldn't this be later in the summer?!?
