short story first, then question. i purchased an apexi safc2 last year because i was told that it had a fuction that would cure engine stall at idle due to an open atmosphere bov. well, it does, if you have a hot wire sensor vehicle. the dec. upper air limit does not work for a karman sensor vehicle, which the 88 turbo is. i also had my local speed shop tune the afc on their dyno. after the dumbass tuned my car for an hour and a half, i left the shop -30hp. he said the car was just heat soaked from being in the shop all day. "drive the car, it will feel faster." well, it didn't, and i had the time slips to prove it wasn't faster. on average it was .4 slower. so i took it back and made him put the settings back to default. now i have a really cool $350 tach. (haha with sarcasm) the car is back to 14.7 1/4 mi. so, can someone give me some settings to try throughout the rpm range on both hi and lo throttle. the car is at stock boost, 3" exhaust with no cats, and a k&n filter.

thanks

Any settings we gave you would be useless. You've already got a baseline at +/- 0 on the SAFC, and really the best thing to do is find a dyno operator who knows/gives a shit, or buy a wideband kit and tune it yourself.

I'm just subscribing to this thread to watch.

Leave your fuel tuning device set to no correction on every setting, Lo & Hi, until you can tune it properly - dyno or wideband. < that's a period :evil2:
Otherwise you have absolutely no idea what you have done with any adjustment you make.

PS. If you get a wideband, I have a link in my sig to a worksheet that may help you decide what corrections to make.

i was thinking about getting an safc, but to tune like they said u need a dyno with a wideband, or a wideband for yourself. wideband and safc=~$500. it would b worth the extra cash to go with maftpro and not have to worry about the stalling with an open air blow off and afm.

Why don't you just try recirculating the BOV back into the intake?
i thought of the same thing. it does seem to cure the stalling, but it also mute's the sound from the bov. thanks for the reply

I got to say, you impressed me. You caught on quickly, not like many other folks that persist in asking for someone else's settings, just to try, just to get them by, just to... Props to you :bigthumb:

I know its painfull to spend so much money on something that dosent actually make your car faster. But there is no better money spent than on a wideband!!! Preferably with an RPM referenced logger.

Do yourself a favor, buy a Wideband, you will never get rid of it and you can use it on every car you own for years to come. Once you know your good, take it out and put it back in the box, if you ever have a change in tuning or a problem, slap it back in and see if there is/was a change in fuel.

Once you have one you could never live without it.

sry for the old thread but i didnt want to make a new one!!!

anywho, i just drove my car for the first time since my rebuild and i noticed that my a/f ratio would spike off the charts, every so often. i was not driving hard i kept it under 2k rpms. i have a safc2 and i was wandering if there is some setting that i could put it on to have it not do that until i have my car tuned. pretty much i just want to be able to break in my car with out it leaning out so much until i take it to get tuned.

thnx

Leave corrections set to zero until you can tune it.
Better yet, disable safc, run only tccs, until you can tune it.
I have work sheets in my sig you can use if you have a wideband.
