Yeah I read that it's supposed to be zero maintenance, but try and remember something that wasn't zero maintenance when you bought it. Guess I could probably spend some 80 dollars every other year to replace it.

i'd wash it lightly, then use a high powered vacuum cleaner with a CLEAN bristle end to massage the dirt out. :)

I don't think you would have to scrub it, I've cleaned filters with that K&N cleaner, let it set for a while with the cleaner on it, then rinse it out in the sink from the inside of the filter, works great.
