How many of you N/A guys have an exhaust system with a canister? Could I have your feedback relating to sound and gains from the exhaust in addition to the muffler?

What kind of piping are you going to do. Straight through or use a resonator?
I bet it will drone without a resonator, I had a similar setup on my car, sounds good.
If you need a mandrel bent, bolt on catback check my for sale thread. I am going to be in DFW next weekend and could deliver. I have a more restrictive muffler on at the moment but I could cut it off and sell just the piping, let me know.

since youre NA that will probably sound like shit 
your best bet in my opinion would be a chambered muffler with a resonator.
or, if you ever plan on going turbo you might as well get a full 3 inch (or larger) cat back in anticipation of the turbo swap.
but if you want something thats going to sound nice on your NA i highly recommend a chambered muffler such as a flow master or borla. summit has a large selection of mufflers and they are very cheap.

Yeah I'm probably gonna go with straight piping all the way up until the cat, so I'll still need a resonator?

Resonators are straight through, they don't rob any power, they just adjust the frequency of the exhaust pulse to knock out some noise.
You would know drone if you have it. Its a constant deep noise that will get really annoying at cruise, when you are at a constant RPM. Kind of like a bad subwoofer stuck on a low frequency. Used to give me headaches, but I'm old:biglaugh:

Nice Explaination.I was trying to figure out "drone" too, so i believe i dont have and im border line drone. Would you need a resonator if you cut the cat, but if you have the cat you wouldnt need one.yankiwi said:

My car is a bit raspy. It also drones from a worn out muffler I have on there.
Im putting me megan racing muffler on pretty soon. Im running a gutted cat, keeping the resonator and then my fart can.
