if you are installing the 1jz in a MKIII, you don't need the oil level sensor, there is no provision in the US MKIII to monitor oil level.
However, you will need to replace the oil level sender so you can see oil pressure.

why does he have to replace the sender? mine is broken just like that (connector broken off, but is still sealed) and mine has worked perfectly for years? as long as it doesn't leak (and it's not under pressure) it's fine.

hes talking about the oil pressure sender on the front of the block

JDM JZA70 - oil light

USDM MA70 - oil pressure guage

you have to put on the oil pressure sender from the 7M in order to get your stock guage read the pressure correctly on the 1JZ

the oil level sensor doesnt matter, doesnt work on a swapped car for anything. ive got the blockoff from my chaser motor on it.

YEP. and Driftmotion sells the oil sender adaptor too. It allows the 7M oil sender to adapt to the JZ oil sendor port. It's just a SS hose that fits them together.
