I had one, ripped it apart on a truck tire, and for the brief times that I have driven without it (really between breaking the origional and getting the new one) I definitly saw an increase in temp over all but they were much less consistent as well.

Nash: 10c may not be much BUT if you're running a motor on the edge with timing and fuel that +10c as a start point before a hard top end pull may be enough to tip the motor into detonation and BHG!

I run a lower T Stat for this reason as it gives me a bit lower start temp before a hard pull.

Removed mine 18 mos (because I was always droping screws sockets etc) in
it. No cooling problems either in 100 degree heat in Fla. or Ga.---

Tin Snips are your friend. Sears has a 3 piece set for $15. I just used a sharp punch and a piece of wood to 'punch' the holes for bolts to pass thru.

Galvanized sheet metal from Lowe's is like $6.

Just did mine today. I dont know why I didnt use cardboard. :nono: lol
Instead I did guess and check. Took me a little longer then normal and fit isn't too good, but itll be of some use. I need to touch it up a little and get rid of some bulging.
