nope, have an old scirocco though, they are good cars, but i do keep hearing about electrical problems, never had any myself, but mines a few years older than that

I have a friend who has a Golf GTi 1.8t, and she loves it. If I remember too I can ask her if she knows of any problems they have, or that she's had.
dont get a 99-02, those are the fat pigs. get a 87-92 gti (or jetta coupe) and put the 1.8t or the vr6 in there for the same price. less weight+same power=faster. that and IMO the mk2 looks better than the mk3, mk4, and mk5. the mk1 is on the same level.

love the old school vdubs...much lighter, and parts interchangability is astonishing....a1 chassis parts rabbit, scirocco, jetta p/up parts all swapable for the most part, and the newer engines/tranny's go in without a whole lot of work.
i just love the hell out of the scirocco bodystyle, like the boxyness of it, that's what drew me into the supra world about a year ago by accident, i bought mk2 supe based on its looks, even though i intended on flipping it when the last f&f flick came out. just couldn't let it go
on a side note, local j/y in amarillo has 86 ish jetta COUPE in it...and he won't sell it to me at any price...body is great, and like i said, drivetrains are easy for them

some crap about legal issues...i know in oklahoma buying rebuilders from j/y is pretty common.
but damn a coupe...the only one i have ever personally laid eyes on...and i can't have it....i don't think he's hoarding it or anything, don't think the good old boys have any idea how rare that shell is...it's sitting out along side a good bodied rabbit cabby...
