So, does anyone have any plants that they grow?

Odd topic, but I was in my backyard and saw my prickly pear cactus plants which have been sitting outside my house for years and just noticed how big they've gotten. When I bought them they started off having only 2 pears each. Now they both have way more than that.

Very easy plant to take care of. I've done literally nothing to them since the day I bought them. I used them for a science project, which I got 1st place on, way back in 6th grade and just put them outside when I was done. These will probably be with me as long as I live now I suppose since I've had them so long. How many people do you know who can say they grew cacti since they were just fresh out the nursery? Makes for good conversation I think.:biglaugh:

I'm going to have to put them in new pots soon... One of them already broke off part of its pot.

I wish I would have taken pictures throughout their growth to see when the new pears sprouted...

I've seen them sprout fruit that looks like this a few times. They're wilted right now though. Cacti hold water really well, but it still hasn't rained in a long time.

During more moist seasons of the year they look like this

and maybe one day when I'm old and grey, they'll look like this :biglaugh:

I knew this would turn into a big Marijuana discussion.

Joe those are cool. It is pretty interesting to think they could be alive as long/longer than you, and you barely have to do a thing to them.

And Brewster, that's not a bad way to support my Supra funds. lol

Whenever I move into my own house, I plan to have them planted in the ground there. Hell, they'll probably outlast the house...

Ya I figured, and if they were I'd hope you'd be smart enough not to post pics on a public forum. lol

I just got a big urge for some Tomatoes and Cucumbers I grew when I was about 10 in my mom's garden at my old house.
