So machine shop priced out a stock clutch kit to be around 500 buxs:aigo:

So I decide to do some looking around and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/EXEDY-87-92-TOYO...ryZ33730QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Looks alright for a farly stock replacement. Anyone have experinces with this clutch and PP. I know exedy Is a pretty good name brand and makes some great performance clutchs just wondering how there oem replacment one is.

Othere then that I found this one:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/F1-RACING-STAGE-...ryZ33730QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Never heard of F1 racing and it looks like a more performance one. Anyone have any experince with F1 racing??

Also If any of the local vendors On the forum have a stock or even performance clutch in the 300-400 shipped price let me know plz!

Exedy clutches are great. I've purchased one for every car I've had.

They even manufacture clutches for several OEMs, and I believe some ACT kits as well.

There are lots of people who just want to spout the same generic crap comments whether or not they've got any personal experience or not. Just be careful who you listen to (myself included) and weigh all your options.

In my personal opinion the exedy OEM type clutch will be better quality than the F1, and a lot more streetable too. Again, take that with a grain of salt too because I've never owned an F1.

Very true. But when someone asks about a cheap "perfomance" clutch, i tell them to stay away.

exedy for stock replacement is great.

exedy is the performance side of daiken who also makes many oem clutches.... that particular clutch is definitely for stock replacement, if you want something more then i would pick the exedy hyper single or twin plate.

I am currently using the multiplate clutch kit from Exedy. I've had it for 3 years now and it is still holding strong. Iirc, it was around $350. I have also used the dual friction from centerforce. (different car though) I would be more apt to go with another Exedy.

I you're looking at 3-400, I think you should save another hundred and grab one of the act kits from CK. ACT pressure plate and clutch disc. heavy duty pressure plate + either a full face (stock replacement) or 6 puck (performance).

These aren't much more than your price range dictates, but if you buy a cheap clutch, and have to replace it quick, you're doubling your spending. Do it once, and do it right!

I've got the HD pressure plate and ACT 6 puck, and I love it. Takes a bit of getting used to, since the friction zone is diminished, and the engagement is more harsh, but your driving habits will improve greatly because it's the only way to shift smoothly with a strong clutch.

I come from a land down under
All depends on driving habits....

A Mk3 being a heavy car will punish the clutch if you abuse it, better to over rate it now than have to pull the trans to replace a slipping clutch a few weeks after it's installed.

The car is not seeing any major power gains. My main plan is too get the car running nicely "without" cutting any corners and put it up for sale. The exedy stock one I will order then I don't need anything fancy Im not pushing anything big and im also not re installing my boost control Im saving it for my next car:naughty:

Brett: My point is even at stock HP you can kill a clutch stone dead if driven hard due to the weight/traction available in a Mk3.
I Belive that 100% but I don't usually drive my car very hard Like I said if it can handle near stock levels then thats good As my plans are to sell it as soon as it is in running condtion.

LOL ok u got me there. Ok IJ let me put it in this perspective for you then. I lost my lisecne till Febuary of next year. I will be plating it soo my dad can break it in for a short period of time(and he isn't going to drive it anywhere near hard) then I plan on selling it. Over winter I want to save some more and spend the time to take advantage of candans great ability to import car and look for a jza70 supra next.

Nothing against Exedy as I'm currently looking at one of their set ups at the moment but I'm pretty sure if you contact Jeff Watson at Jay Marks he can hook you up with an OEM for about the same price..hth
