Anyone have experience with a T76?

Right now I'm researching how many 7m guys have had experience with a T76 with a .96 hot side? I know I know the hot side is large but the turbo is a DBB. The reason being is because I would like to compare spool characteristics.. I couldn't find a flow chart on it so I'd figure I'd ask.

I have a chance to trade my current turbo PT67 with a .68 hotside for the T76 simply because the fellow with the T76 doesnt want a top end turbo.
I may end up keeping my turbo because on the 7M it will be very streetable. Who knows. Info much appreciated and thanks in advance!

I've never dealt with the T-76 personally, but they do have an excellent reputation. I jumped from a T-66 to an 80mm. ;)

But I do have the map for it:

Looks like the sweet spot on that turbo is narrow, but the 7M will probably fall right smack in the middle of it.

Be sure we are talking about the standard T-76 and not the Super T-76, they are fairly different.

The easy way to tell is the compressor cover. The standard runs the standard T series cover. The Super runs the Y2K cover.

I wouldn't use a T76 on my 7M. Unless you've got 100% VE, running ridiculous boost (2.5 bar) at 7500+ rpm (aka race application) then it wouldn't be any fun on the street, imho.

Doward is correct on that count. I was thinking of a 7M for an all out race application. I didn't catch your street car reference. On the street that turbo would be a lag monster on a 7M (also on a 2J).

Justin, just use nitrous everytime you step on the gas, that way, it'll help it spool...

Nitrous? WHAT? Me worry?

Thanks for the info guys. Yea it turns out the guy catches full boost by 4800 5000 rpm on his 2j... I'm sure on the 7m it may be a little more and with redline at 6500 theres not much room for fun.
I will be stickin with my current turbo choice!
Once agian thank you
