There is a lot of material that can be removed from the stock manifold, especially in the collector area. I almost filled an entire tuna can with what I removed. Just be careful and look for cracks when you do it.

Anyone have pics of their ported stock mani before installation?

Also, how much ported or aggressive can one go on the stocker??

Thanks.

Do you flowtest manifolds after porting? or you are porting just ports to be approximately equal? Aren't you afraid some cylinders will get different amount of air and will be too lean or rich?

If someone was going to go through the trouble of flow testing their manifold after porting, they'd probably just pony up and buy a better manifold from the start ;).

on the exhaust side it really doesn't matter given the restrictions of the stock manifold design. If you were that concerned about cyl-cyl balance, then you need to contact Ron R or Dave@boostwerks and have them fab an equal length runner manifold. Besides, you have that giant restriction called a turbo in the flow path, so unless you are making big power (with an equally large turbine) you will not benefit enough power-wise to justify the cost of a header that can balance the exhaust pulse at the turbine.

The stock manifold is far from being balanced, but if you are running a CT, that small turbine is more of a restriction than the manifold (at the power levels the CT can support).
