I spent about an hour total outside and saw about 50 meteors. It's still going on tonight (and until the 16th), but peaked at about 1am eastern last night/early this morning.

Ah yes, but if you check, -40c is essentially the same temp as -40f, which = you dying here. Me jealous I am not there still.
sights like these are the only advantage to my current job. there hasn't been a night in the last two weeks where i haven't seen at least a handful of meteors.
i guess there is some advantage to being out in the middle of no-fucking-where in the small hours of the morning. Being in the clear panhandle air on some ranch 30 miles from the closest human definitely makes for spectacular views. many a time i have shut the truck down, killed the lights, and walked out into a pasture to stare at the sky.
