Ashville NC to Philly PA....then back to ashville....worst trip of my life!! Middle of summer and the bus ac didn't work...some drunk douche behind me wouldn't shut up and some asked him to be quiet and he threatend to kill him! Many creepy people and god awful smells!

I'll never do it again EVER!!!!! I hated my mother for along time for not getting me a plane ticket!

I hope your trip goes well but you are responisble for your own bags and you need to get your own shit to the next bus when you transfer....bring pepper spray or whatever you use to help defend yourself if need be! Not saying anything will happen but after my experience I'll never get on a bus without a gun tucked in my waistband!!!!

WTFail? You moving to MN?? Bah, guess I'll never get to put that 6M in your car now :sarcasm:

I've been in Greyhound several times

Los Angeles to San Francisco
Mass to Ohio
Ohio to Florida
Florida to Mass
Mass to Florida

The last two I did by myself. I was 16 years old and I had fun, met some interesting people. I absolutely LOVED stopping in major cities for layovers, especially NYC. Everyone tried to freak me out and get me scared, but I wasn't having it. Yeah some people were scary, weird... others were interesting and friendly.

Sleep a lot, bring a book, portable dvd player, mp3 player, etc. It's a LONG boring ride for the most part. And just keep track of when you're supposed to change and try not to fall asleep within a couple hours of that time..

I used to work with buses, greyhound scares the shit outta me. Their equipment is poorly maintained. Whenever I drive near one I always spot at least a dozen problems where I believe should be out of service. Travel with greyhound if there's no other choice. Sorry but I have nothing positive to say.

Over reacting.... I have seen decent equipment out there ran by greyhound but I myself would never chance it after first hand experience. Shit happens, but they have a bad track record that the public doesn't always see. Their a large company, been around for long time. But I just don't like the things I've seen with their units.

A bus is basically good for two years with monthly maintance and 45 day inspections. After two years without thousands of dollars per unit to maintain a fair operation.... I have yet to see a company be able to balance the money. Ok. These things are ran hard and get old quick.

I've watched mci a through d coach units get dispatched daily. Those buses were last new in the late 90s. Over last few years there's been retro redesigns but still. On a daily basis there will always be bad hub seals misaligned air chambers, faulty wiring, etc... I bitch forever.

Not saying don't ride greyhound, just my opinion and hopes that you have a safe journey. I will always stand with what I've said due to my own experiences with buses.

Glad to hear you made it safely. So.... no prostitute action in the back of the bus for $20 stories? :naughty: Good luck and have fun on your new adventures we call life. Make the best of it.
