The HKS filters were actually updated so they aren't that bad... But that still didn't stop me from buying an APEX'I after i bought an HKS. Plus i needed a bit more clearance up in the front.

Which is correct, but you still didn't follow me.
In the link I posted, it shows that the Apex-i Power Intake is much better than the K&N, so if you're in the market for a new intake, why not buy the Apex-i?

There was a debate that that test was a stunt to kill off the popularity of the HKS filters though...

Debate, yes, but did anyone actually re-test it? Internet theory doesn't exactly sway me. People get all skeptic on the internet for no good reason, perhaps just to be different. Christ, look at liukc's thread, the one with the twin-turbo 7M.
People crying photoshop and wanting proof... is it so fucking hard to believe?

This test showed actual data, therefore I believe it.
The HKS mushroom foam filter you can practically see through, therefore I believe what the test showed.
Anyone who is willing to debate it had better perform a test of their own to either prove or disprove their own theory.

i-Skepticism. the new cool thing to do

Is there a cleaning procedure for the apexi, or do you spend all that money to toss it in a couple of seasons...I've always chosen K&N as it can be cleaned every couple of years, although it is not by far the "ultimate" in filtration.

you don't toss it, it basically doesn't need cleaning. I just spray some compressed air inside mine from time to time.

Step one: Install in trash.
Step two: buy an Apex-i power intake or AEM dryflow filter that will actually work.
Step three: Stand back and enjoy your new filter, knowing that it'll actually be filtering the air.

what he said....

Apex'i
nice sound to it too...
