Instead of the combustion happening in the engine, timing is retarded and it happens in the manifold. So the heat and pressure generated isn't converted to mechanical energy to drive the engine (making power) but instead to spool up the turbo.

I come from a land down under
In a good system it will be timer and EGT based so it shuts off before Turbine damage happens, With the MoTeC is retards timing cuts some cylinders and pumps extra fuel through the engine adds some airflow and you get what Tiss describes above, an afterburner!

I played around with Launch Control and antilag and came across an interesting fact, NO VACUUM while it's happening and holding a Fat Supra on the brakes while it's making boost is damn hard with an auto! :aigo:

not to hijack but antilag is based on rpm and the clutch in a manual car isnt it? like with the clutch pressed and revved it "activates" anti-lag right? i say that to set up my next question: if thats true, is it also gear based somehow...bc i wouldnt think you would want antilag every time you shift being that the turbo should still be spooled(assuming you have a good bov). if im missing something or if this is incorrect please let me know thanks

^Anti-lag can be set to activate pretty much whenever the user wants it to.

i have a rush anti-lag system and i put it on a push button so it only activates, and stays activated, only when i hold the button. that way i can slip out the clutch instead of having to dump it because of having to hold it to the floor to keep the safety switch activated.:biglaugh:

i assume its a button on the wheel or shifter...

that's pretty cool. and were you able to do that because of the system you used or could it be done with AEM for example.

im guessin you could probably bypass the clutch safety switch with any system but i would do some research first.
