Ok so after digging my car out of a mountain of snow, my car started pretty easily even though my idle sucks. I drove around for about an hour, parked my car and went to sleep. I tried to start it this morning and it just cranks.....uhh what should i do? lol. The only code i get is 52 and ive been getting it for the past week i need to rewire my knock sensors. What should i do from here? Thanks for any input

well first i would rewire my knock sensors... then try proper grounds? maybe a fuse. let us know when you've finished

i have to order the connectors and i cant wait that long, also could you be more specific.....i pulled the efi fuse and its not blown. i also saw on another thread messing with the cps wires could help so i tried that

Yes pull a plug and connect it to a spark plug wire....than crank and look for spark...than pull a fuel line and crank to see if fuel comes out...

if it started before and is not starting now i dont think its ur cps (but u never know)
id check the fuses first, then pull a spark plug wire and have some 1 crank the car if u see spark (u will see it jump even during the day) then thats not ur problem, if u dont see spark then u need to start checking ur ignition system. follow the instructions in the tsrm and ull be good to go.
if u do have spark check for fuel, the easiest way would be to pull off one of the fuel lines or just crack it open a little, it WILL spray fuel everywhere so be carefull with that.
if u dont have fuel check the pump, on the test connector if u jump 2 pins together it will turn the pump on problem is i dont remeber what pins to jump (maybe some 1 will chime in and let u know which pins it is)
if the pump turns on and u still dont have fuel then ur out of gas (u have no idea how many times people have told me they where having starting problems and where just out of gas) or there is a clog. (u said it was snowing maybe there was some water in the tank or line which froze)
good luck and i hope this was of some help
joe

what he said... you have to ground the plug or it will never spark! dont just buy new plugs and wires those may not be what will fix the problem, if it has no spark it could be a number of things like coils or cps sensor.

to check for fuel just crack the line if it sprays out like crazy then its not a fuel problem, if nothing comes out then you got a fuel problem.

if it does not have either then it would be a fuse somewhere blown i would guess.

I have driven to a given location, was there for about 20 minutes, and when I went to leave, the car would not start. I popped the hood, shook my CPS wires, and away I went. So yeah! Over night, 20 minutes, even while driving.

Bad CPS wires are a common problem with our cars and can be a headache.

Usually, if the problem is a CPS wire, it will turn over fine; but, will sputter and won't start. It kind of sounds like a distributor that is 180* out.

ill try that again, cause i dried out the coilpack and it wasnt that. also my battery is dead, a guy who lives across from where i park my car told me alarm randomly just goes off. what could be the cause of that? the only reason i havent pulled the fuel line is i dont have many tools at my house, and the car is parked up the block.

u can take the line off of the j tube under the intake manifold with just a pair of piles.
did u check to see if u where getting spark yet?(leave the wire attached to the coil disconnect the wire from spark plug, put a spark plug into the wire, u can remove the 1 thats in the engine or use any 1 u have laying around, then hold the wire so that the metal part of the spark plug is touching the engine crank the motor and see if there is spark)
check those 2 first so we can direct u where to go next. (if u did check for spark and fuel let us know the results)
good luck
joe

I tested it to see if im getting spark and i am. I couldnt figure out whats wrong so i had a friend whos a mechanic look at it. he said im not getting power to the fuel pump. and it keeps blowing the efi fuse. it only blew it once with me and i replaced it. so does anyone know what could be causing this, he said something about bad grounds but he kinda rushed me off the phone. i just dont understand how something like this could happen over night.

Yes, bad grounds can cause fuses to blow. There's one in particular; but, I can't remember exactly where it is. It's near/under the intake manifold...?

Maybe Jdub or someone will chime in to its exact location.

There's also the one between the coil pack and the head; but, I doubt that's causing it. It's easy enough to ohm out just to make sure though.

Did you short the B+ and the Fp1 connections at the diagnostic block to make sure your pump isn't turning on?

I would wait on the 12v mod. Just get it running!

It's a bit of work and if you do some reading on it, it's a little questionable whether or not it's worth the trouble. Or maybe most people just haven't done it right. ;)
