All the people who live on the east side of Supraville always tell the truth.

All the people who live on the west side of Supraville always lie.

You are sitting at an intersection in town with your Targa top off. It is 12 o'clock noon and the sun is directly overhead. All the people are moving about and the population is pretty evenly mixed at this point in the day.

What one question can you ask one person to determine which side of Supraville you are on?

Ask them if you are in Supraville? You KNOW you arein Supraville, so if they say yes, you are in the east, if they say no, you are in the west?

not necessarily. You don't know who you're asking or which side of Supraville they're from.

Yeah, so asking "Am I on the east side?" could yield a no from both populations, and you still wouldn't know. Is that what you mean Mike?

No, no one's even gotten the premise of this yet....

The population is mixed in the area you are.
If you ask someone randomly, you have a 50% chance of getting someone from East, and a 50% chance of getting someone from West. Thus, you could ask "Is my car running?" and just because someone answers yes, and your car is running, DOES NOT mean you are in East, because the person from the East could be over in West, and so could you.

I'm still thinking on an actual answer, Mike.
