that pigtail from the harness is 5v power and ground for the TPS and Map sensor.

If the TPS is getting 5v power to the BLUE wire with black stripe then its fine. Also check that the Map sensor is getting 5v and ground. Is there any sign to you that its running rich. Also does it sound like its 2 stepping or sound like it has that anti lag setup when you rev it and it limits at 4k.

JZX7- thanks for the post. It sounds like a soft rev limit. More whoob-whoob than cracking 2 step or antilag. It's not exactly a 4k breakup but 3800 to 4000 rpm and not load related. I can free-rev the car in neutral to about 5k but it breaks up. While driving it only achieves 4k. I don't suspect coils or ignition components because the driveability below 4k is very smooth and good.

I feel that this little truck is on the verge of being so cool. It's very frustrating not being able fix this on my own but there's a huge lack of information on this motor. I'm also having this intermittent smoking problem at stoplights every now-and-then but that's another thread.

Thanks again I'll check the MAP for 5v and Gnd. today.

Nope. Thanks for checking in.

I'm wondering if there is possibly a speed sensor that my truck doesn't have which would put the ECU in limp mode?

Just really taking shots in the dark at this point.

Are there any New England members that I could meet and plug in their ECU to rule this out? I'm on ECU #2 right now. There's no board damage and I did the caps already.

double check the board on your ecu to make sure there isn't a fried spot you overlooked. having more than 1 faulty ecu is common. did you ever check to see if any of the ecu's you have work in other cars?
