Looks pretty close to the Titan. You blew that up good, 100ft/lbs is a little high for head torque IMO

sounds like a good plan. You have any ideas besides detonation that could have done this. What grade gas were you running and at what boost?

Well i hope it was not Detonation cause then i have to run Race Fuel LOL!

Stock boost with full 3" Exhast turbo back no Cat

I use 91 or higher Octane always, usualy it's 94 that i get from a particular station around town here.

I know when i first ran the car the timing was off from the CPS, didn't think it was going to be to big of an issue since i was far from home and well had to get the car home. Could afford the tow at the time would have been about $300

I am wondering if the last guy who put my Cams in put them in wrong some how.

Looking at the head and the Block i did not see any problems with anything other then the obvious stuff that leake dinto the cyl. from the BHG

If you have any ideas let me know. I was about to tourque down the head again with the stocker in there.

Also do you think my water pump might be fried from all this abuse or will it still be ok

Go Bob!

Way to Nuke a MHG :)

Any details on when it let go?

Fuel, boost, timing, length of pull so on?
<ninja edit>

We posted at the same time!
Can't see it running well enough if the cam timing was that far out Bob!

That is detonation damage and I wouldn't be surprise if it's collapsed the ring lands in #3.

well IJ

I have a feeling it went due to the issue about the timming from above. It blew zbout a week and a half after it was installed but i tthink the timing being off started it on its way to the end.

besides the timing to only other problem i was having at the time was the Idle would not stay still. It kept jumping up for a sec or two then dropping back down. over and over would never stop. But there was never any hesitation if you steped on the gas.

I will need to figure all this out as i put it back together. any ideas will be helpful

Bob: It takes a LOT of cylinder pressure to blow a MHG like that!

Not sure on a cause but I'd be really concerned at the state of the rings and ring lands.

Think I'd be looking at Injectors as well as something is very wrong here!

thnx IJ and Justin727 i will take the head back off tomorrow and try the oil thing.

About how much should i put in there. I have never done that before.

Just out of Curiousity. could the MHG do that from just a bad install and improperly worked surfaces so it would fail or am i just nuts?

Well i will take the head back off tomorrow and let you guys know I cant say that #3 looks any different compaired to the other cyl.

Edit

Ok Compression test it will be. I will post the numbers up tomorrow. I have to go by the local automotive store to borrow the tester. Will it be ok to crank the engine over with nothing attached or should i atleast hook up the grounds? at this point not even the Cam covers are back on yet
