Whats the deal with americans and Oprah Winfrey?

people lose their shit over this woman, i fail to see the hype?

she gets paid millions to sit down, cry every story a few times and generally talk shit.

can i get some local explination as alot of us australians find the behaviour quite humerous

I find her annoying and yes all she does is talk shit.

Easy explanation the majority of Americans are ignorant people who want moronic entertainment.

Oprah is an asshat. Period. I know more people (women) who love her, but if any of them knew a woman who was such a know it all in real life they would hate her to the core and spend all of their time plotting how to 'bring the bitch down' with the other women. But since she's celebrity hype, she gets the respect in spite of deserving nothing more than a beating.

IMO, of course. ;)

Oprah is a joke on us, if you ask me. It shows you that being a con-man/woman can make rich, if you work the angles correctly. I'm proud to report, that I have never watched more than just a couple of minutes of any of her shows!

I think its beacause she came up from what seems to be a poor and horrible childhood and now she is worth like almost a billion at least. Even though I dont really see her appeal she kinda is a text book example of what America is really all about, which is that you can succeed and make a good living no matter what your background is if you only apply yourself and have determination. Sound right or am I just talking out of my ass?
