ok, listen to me very clearly...

I've done it both ways with pulling the engine/tranny, and pulling just the tranny. Pulling JUST the tranny is CAKE, IF you have a tranny jack.

Harbour freight has a nice one that's pretty cheap, gotta get the car high enough in the air to use it, but the job is a complete cake walk with it...

I only plan on doing this once...maybe twice if I get an r-154 someday...I'm not buying a trans jack unless they make a disposable one LOL....I'm going to use a motorcycle jack which should work just fine in theroy LOL....but I'm not spending any more money...ive spent enough polishing this turd as it is (n/a=turd).

Harbor Freight has a return policy ...:naughty: just dont scratch it up.

Your cycle jack should work fine. Besides the trans is only about 100lbs, if you cant muscle that around you are a "gurly man" :sarcasm:

well I only had reference specs for the r154 so I used that. let me rephrase...at the MOST it MIGHT weigh 100lbs (wet, w/bellhousing). Either way.

See I never had a trans jack. I always did it with a regular floor jack, and that takes balancing it and wigging it and finageling to get it to line up. I almost always ended up getting frustrated trying to line it up and just dropped the jack and did it by hand. And Im no young spring chicken. You should have no problems.
