you are being picky... the toyota one is not that much bigger, and it has thinner blades. that would mean it wouldn't push as much. or you can do what i did and weld a plate on it to make it push even more.

I recall this having been talked about before on here. IIRC, someone got a new Aisin and it had a cast impeller too. I guess they're cheaper or easier to manufacture.

I'm using the water pump that driftmotion sells, $55 and works great. I think toyota quoted me like $150 or something for a new one.. I figure people can buy what they want. I think you're being a little picky but at the same time I'm the same way with other things.

Never seen a cast one, here... I'll snag a pic of my STAMPED STEEL impeller when I get home.

BTW, mine's a new one I bought from Advance Auto Parts ;)

Nash I have to agree with you man, the one i took out of my car was like the one in your picture. Replaced it with one from toyota and couldnt beleive the difference. The blades look so much better on the toyota water pump! On a side note though, I didnt have any problems with the other water pump til it went out. After seeing both though I will stick with toyota!

I want pics of these stamped ones... I'd compare the dimensions to see if there is really any benefits to running the OEM one...

New to site... old to supras and "otherwise"...

I noticed DRAMATIC distinctions between an aftermarket POTMETAL CAST impeller and the AISIN unit. I took my aftermarket back (this is half-a-dozen years ago... or more...) and got the AISIN unit with stamped impeller. Then I "polished" the fins to take off the "rough" edges from the die shear.

Couldn't say if it DOES make a difference without empirical evidence... but the APPEARANCES are pretty notable... enough for me, in this case.
