I hope you learn your lesson the first time, 87soup. Your Damn lucky your hand is O.K.
Always set your car securely on jackstands on LEVEL GROUND and your wheels are blocked
When I was young (12-13yrs.) I worked on a citrus farm in Belize C.A.
One of the semi trucks had a flat trailer tire and had parked on the grass. It was my job to change the tire on a truck loaded with many many tons of grapefruit. I put blocks under the rear axle and it took all I had to get that massive jack on the blocks. I think it was like a 40-50 ton jack and was heavy as F*u*k, 50lbs+ easy.
I got the axle off the ground and was removing the tires, (the inside tire was flat). I was pulling the first tire off when I noticed the blocks under the jack were sinking into the ground. A few seconds later the jack was spit out from the axle so fast and with such force it you could just see a red blur and a spark when it the other axle. it was pretty scary, and left dents in the axle it hit and the ground where it landed. I remember thinking about what a hunk of steel like that could do if it hit me. It all happens so fast.
I think me and this guy might be related... At least he remembered to block the wheel, lol.
