But I follow the logic about the fans wouldn't do anything useful if the car doesn't maintain under hood temps for extended periods after shutdown, therefore making an after-run fan unnecessary.

So your saying the shroud plus undercover makes the cooling fans job more efficient?

What about aerodynamics improving with an undercover present?

what do electric fans have to do with the underbody?

and undercover makes the fans job do what it was designed to do. Pull air from infront of the a/c condensor & radiator.

as for improving aero. Not happening. The panel has to be the length of the underbody of the car AND the car has to be DESIGNED around that undercover. See Ferrari.

If the undercover is not as smooth as silk, you gain nothing.

Your right, an undercover improving electric fan efficiency when they are already mounted directly to the radiator is silly.

As for the aero, looks like i can't have my cake AND eat it

I tend to over complicate simple things But i still want the improved cooling an under cover offers.

The OP came up with a simple idea that looks rather effective. I like it.

i would buy one. Oh yea and 300lbs thats me and a 50 lb kid haha lol. Looks pimp and does what its suppose too. Direct air flow.

i agree with the electric fans, but i was saying that people who remove their undercovers experience problems overheating when parked or idling in traffic since the fan pushes air and it takes the easiest way out, under the engine.
