If it were 1:1 wall thickness with the steel shaft maybe........ but it would be so weak it would corkscrew so nah!

Aluminium as a material is quite dead without much in the way of "spring" it will bend easily but takes very little to push it past it's elastic limits where it can't return and eventually fails.

This explanation is simplified somewhat but I have no reason to BS you as I don't build or sell either.

You know, Ford Racing Performance Parts, formerly SVO, sells a truck driveshaft for the fox platform Mustang as an upgrade in strength over the factory stock unit.

I am pretty sure they are not aluminum but alloy. Typically doped with magnesium, to make it stiffer than a wedding dick.

Glad everything went good on the install. Thanks for the positive feedback.

The difference in weight between steel and aluminum is actually only two pounds.

The aluminum is a better choice for safety concerns if the driveshaft breaks for any reason it will do less damage to you and your car.

Thanks again,

Jeff

Well, I just ordered the steel driveshaft from Jawsgear. I decided on that because of the $120 difference from alum to steel and it was only 2 lbs difference. And as for the safety concern, from what I have been reading on other posts, the jawsgear driveshafts are high quality work. And if it breaks for some reason, I'm probably to blame and was doing something I shouldn't have been doing. Thanks for all the help everyone. I'll be posting my results when I get back to the states and install everything. BTW, my end results in mods when I get back are going to be a 1jz/r154, 24x12x3 fmic, 2.5'' intercooler piping, 935motorsports y-pipe, 3'' full exhaust, 935motorsports lightweight flywheel, jawsgear steel driveshaft, stage 3 clutch and maybe a walbro 255lph fuel pump. Then I'm done with mods until the stock twins blow then it's single turbo time and what not.

Funny thing is that I won't even be able to tell a difference. My supra had a blown engine when I got it and put the 1jz in and then I got deployed and it isn't finished yet (wiring the 1jz). I'll have to drive my neighbors even though he has the w58 to tell the difference.

Are you on drugs? If you think this, then why are you driving a Supra and not an LS1 powered Camaro, or an old 5.0 Mustang. You kids just don't make any sense sometimes.

That is for him.

Im all about comfort, Whch is why I have a smooth revving engine, full interior and the such, People think im crazy because I WANT air conditioning.

Im sticking with a 2 piece.

Everybody has mustang 5.0's or ls1 camaro's. I like to have AC too, doesn't mean I have it on 100% of the time. I like the best of both worlds when it come to performance/comfort.
