Alternative source for a new R154

Have any one verified the difference between the R154 in the saturn sky or pontiac solstice vs the supra one R154?

Whats difference? I heard the new R154 haves better syncos and a stronger fork & thrust bearing.

The bell housing and tail sections of the transmission is different I tried to search for this thread on here found either to many results or none.

Is the R154 the same bullit proof design I noticed you could find the ecotec engines with trans cheap so I am sure with the upgrades to the trans itself plus the cheapness it would be a worth while souce to replace our old worn transmissions.

Is the input shaft different ? so you would have to use different clutch disk? tailshaft splines different?

I am still curious to the end result. maybe jaws gear could update our tranny internals and swap shafts and parts on the rebuild with the core.

yeah I'm working on using a colorado AR5 in my car.. you'll have to pick up a pilot bearing from mcmaster-carr or something. getting the shifter in the right spot is also a problem I still have to solve... it's a little more complicated with the colorado trans than the solstice one.
