The GTE doesn't have the ACIS system. It's specific to some of Toyota's N/A's and not terribly unlike Honda's V-tec. The Cressida's N/A 7M-GE doesn't have it either (among a couple smaller differences) and that engine makes less power than the MKIII's 7M-GE.

I'm not saying that you're looking at loosing 50 or even 10HP, although the possibility does exist if you don't get the math right.

Mine is metal with a silicone inlay.
Ditto: I use MDS kits that use some of the OEM suppliers so metal.
(I get the NA kits as they're cheaper than the GTE ones so I'm NOT paying for all of the Metal CT Gaskets I don't use)

We're talking about these things aren't we?

Little motorcycle trick for paper gaskets: Glue one side to the intake or t.b., and coat the other side with a THIN layer of antisieze. The gasket stays where you glued it when you take it apart, and the antiseize won't let it stick to the other side, thus no torn gasket.

I was just wondering if there was a alternative solution for the intake route.

Hey it's been done on a 7MGTE, so I thought why not on a NA.

Hey if you like the way the engine is setup from stock, fine. Good.

Me, it's all about being a little different and making things a little easier.

Power loss, maybe I could find out more on this.

It does make me wonder why most of the cars I have encountered takes no more than 15 minutes to change the spark plugs. For the 7M, about an hour.

Maybe this doesn't matter to most people, but for me I think the valve covers looks nice and it is too bad most of it is covered up by the intake.

If it takes your an hour to change the plugs your doing it wrong...

Undo the 4 bolts on the TB, loosen the 2 bolts on the mounting brakets and lift the TB a few inchs. With that done you can get a socket on the 3 middle plugs no problem.

Its a 15 minute job.

Lol, from what I've seen of Cali. mechanic's prices, I'd say that's a steal!:biglaugh:

For the intake, go to the local exhaust shop and have them bend a piece of 3" to fit, drill a hole in it, and weld the little pipe from your stock one in it for the vacuum line that runs down behind the power steering.

oh that vaccum line is not currently not connected is that bad????
Its your power steering idle up - so when your stopped and your trying to turn your steering wheel it has just a bit of extra strength to turn without having to rev up your engine manually.

Correct me if I am wrong, but last I knew, that is what that was for.

It will be ok with it off, but I believe things to be better when things are put together the way they were intended to be.

140 for valve cover gaskets suck. the gaskets from rockauto were like $7 apiece, new screws and washers from toyota were $22, and spark plugs are however much you're willing to pay. its an hour job, including cleanup.

The cheapest route would be to hit a salvage yard and grab a stocker... $5-$10.

Second cheapest would be making your own, AFM adapter and a Civic intake with filter.... $40 - $70
