psi means nothing when you can safely tune for it.

I know that i meant the amount of pressure the components can handle. but yeah i feel ye on proper tuning and what not is where most of it is at.

So what would be your ideas of how much hp a stock 7m could handle? (with upgrading fuel system, turbo and tuning)
stock meaning:
internals, head, head gasket

**** Ill start my own post when necessary, on this do not wanna take this thread away from op sorry guys******

Tekdeus is putting down 500+ on an engine with a MHG and stock internals. He has other goodies too; but, internals are stock.

And yeah...we're getting way off topic from OP. One of the mods would be suggesting that you start a new thread. :)

To OP: You have a lot of good suggestions. Try them and post your findings.

Alright guys, im back at the shop.
Just finished do a compression test.
Cylinders numbered from front to back.
1-150
2-100
3-150
4-150
5-150
6-150

There's definately something wrong with cylinder 2, i will start to take apart everything.

Suggestions what to change as i am already tearing this far into the engine?

i would suggest doing a leak down as well, might kinda help narrow the low compression issue down. Did you try puttin a squirt of oil in each one and do the comp test?

It was pretty busy at the shop so i didn't get much done.
What would a squirt of oil help with? Just curious, would it change the readings?

The oil will change the readings it will bring them up. i think, but could be wrong, that when you do the drop of oil and the compression does not change you may have bad ring(s)

Also the leakdown may be helpful in determining the cause

Yeah, Right now im assuming that i'd have to tear into it and remove the head, im really hoping its the BHG.

You have already checked the basics such as oil and coolant correct?

There's no milkyness on my oil cap, and i took out of my coolant today, and will probly test it to see if there was any exhaust or oil in it.

But i've read somewhere that Cyl. Num. 5 is the prone cylinder to BHG. Which is the 2nd cylinder from the front. And the plug was cleaner then all the other ones aswell. And that's the one that was 50psi off.
But ill try with a drop of oil?

Eventhough it already looked pretty wet inside there, and my plugs looked like shit, i will take a pic of the plugs when i get back down to the shop.

?????? which front are you talking about? the cylinder order goes 1-2-3-4-5-6 from radiator to firewall. I dont know about what you read but i came across number 6 being the bhg topic, that is the closest to the firewall.

I read the "Firing order" for a 7MGTE Engine is

1-5-3-6-2-4

Front the Radiator to the firewall, Left to right on here.

sorry... wrong.. firing order IS 1-5-3-6-2-4 but that doesnt mean its firing from front to back and that the numbers means nothing lol.... cylinder numbers "labels, names etc" from radiator to firewall is 1-2-3-4-5-6..
so when you are talking about cylinder 1 for example it is the one closest to the radiator and if you are talking about cylinder 6 its the one closest to the firwall.. cylinder 5 is the one right in front of cylinder 6 etc.
Spark plug wires on the coil packs from left to right when you are standing in front is 1,6-3,4-2,5

hopefully this clears everything up?

Well the firing order isn't gonna hlep my BHG. Lol.
You said my firing order was incorrect and you said the exact same firing order as me. Anyways.
I was just trying to state that people have said Cylinder 5 is prone to BHG, who knows the way they counted, 1,2,3,4,5,6, or 1,5,6,3,2,4, I do not know.
I was trying to try to figure out where exactly i could possibly have more coolant leaks, any hoses i should inspect/change out that would have alot of wear and tear? Im just trying to clearn things up, i cannot do a leak down test as my engine is not running due to BHG.
Thanks again

When stating which cylinder is prone to bhg it would be that cylinder number, not where that cylinder is in firing order. number 5 is second to last from firewall,on any inline 6 engine period. Not being an ass.

as far as hoses go, you have 3 on the backside of the block. one in the center of the valley right behind number 6 plug wire give or take few inches. and two that run into the coolant pipe down behind the exhaust manifold. Might have bad or loose hose clamps there. on the exhaust side of the engine up in the front you have a hose the attaches to the t stat housing adapter as well. these are the 4 that i had leaks out of only because they are somewhat tricky to get a good tight clamp on when all is installed. Can you do a coolant psi test?

Aside form all that, if you know you have bhg than you might as well pull the head off and go from there?

if you are thinking cylnder 1 is in the rear, and 6 up front closest to the firewall, then acording to these readings what your calling cyl 2 is actually number 5 and the one prone to blow the hg. firing order is not relavent here. ive rebuilt 7 of these motors all will bhg, only one was not blown at the #5/6 cyl. you have a bhg my friend. easy fix :icon_bigg

as far as "what to chage since im already tearing this far into engine" i would suggest just all the gaskets you can :)

Im at the shop right now, But then again i was thinking how could i have fouled all my plugs? Could there possibly be water coming in from the turbo into my intake to have fouled all my plugs?

Ima run another compression with some oil inside to see whats going on.

Well its the 2nd Cylinder from the radiator with the low compression.
But i have coolant on all of my plugs so i dont see how i could have fouled my plugs unless i got water in my intake? Possibly turbo?

Well how far is turlock Cali? Haha.
Im in the Bay Area.

if you have coolant on all plugs, its either a severe bhg or like you stated you are sucking coolant into the intake down into each cylinder. there is the water passage from the head into the front lower area of the intake plenum make sure you do not have a crack there.

if you suspect turbo pull intercooler piping off and see if its wet with coolant. I think if it was the turbo you wouldnt be getting that much coolant into the intake, maybe more moisture than anything. would be alot of coolant to push through bottom of ic and make its way out of the top. check the lower ic pipe as well

all check tb and iscv as to these components have coolant flowing through also
