I need to get an alignment done, since I pulled the steering rack for rebuild, and balljoints replaced. I was thinking to go to a tire/alignment place close to work.. but should I go to a dealer for this? what is the general experience with supra alignment done outside dealerships?
thanks.

It should be fine going to a regular alignment place. I even went to Sears and they got it done. As long as the car isn't lowered too much it should be fine.

Make sure you ask them for a print out of the specs. Supra's don't really need anything (unless something's broken) when it comes to alignment. It's not like Honda's that need camber kits.

I come from a land down under
I'd go to a specialist that knows what they're doing and why.

Any more than 2" lowered and they're going to run out of adjustment in the rear and speaking of adjusters I'd crack all of them to make sure they move before going and replace any that are frozen so you're NOT paying the shop to do it.

I forgot about this. I had to spray WD40 a few times before I got some of them to move.

The front end shop probably has techs that were just getting tired of the dealer in the first place. We had techs at the dealer that only did alignments. It was the only way to compete with the lower price front end shops.

I have seen cars driven right over the edge. But both times the owner after the fact mentioned the brakes had a problem.

I don't remember if the Hunter machine was damaged. But the Ford Ranger was laying against it.

Thanks for the replies. Car is at stock height. IJ, what do you mean by adjusters? Are those the large bolts (2) that hold lower A-arm in position?

if u haven't gotten an alignment for a while i would spray some liquid wrench on the alignment bolts. Mine were rusted stuck and the alignment guy told me to bring it home and break the bolts loose for him so he wouldn't have to charge me extra. u gotta love honest mechanics
