Have not seen the movie, and untill it's free, and I have ABSOLUTELY nothing else to do, I will not.
Have however looked at his book. (About 12.00 at Costco.)
Very interesting book. Full of photos, graphs, IPCC data, concerned scientists and of course Al's own diatribe about how the environment is being ruined by man's use of fossil fuels, adding hundreds of tons of C02 to the atmosphere every year.
Shows great photo op's of him and Tipper in TN, hiking in the mountains, and lots of photos showing glaciers melting over 100 year time spans (Or more in some cases.), and other alarmist pics of wholesale death and distruction unless we act now to stop Man's abuse and addiction to fossil fuels, urban sprawl and all the other things we do like build dams, kill fish, eat cows.. (Ok, I made up the eating cows thing, but you get the point.)
I was looking at each page, thinking... Hmm, he's right with the photo, but fails to note that 125 years ago, man was not making anywhere near the C02 we are today, yet these glaciers were melting then... Hmm, wonder why that was if we are responsable for ice melt?
Looked at his photos of Glacier National Park, and his poor lament about how he remembers seeing glaciers there that his kids will never see... boo hoo, we are all to be ashamed of ourselves for melting them with our internal combustion engines...
OK, had to LOL at that one...!! Again, shows photos from the 1930's, and we are now 76 years later, and wow! what a supprise! the weather has changed!
Guess what Al? Those glaciers your so fond of? They used to be larger and covered the entire area you are talking about... see how the mountains are scraped away, and you can see where entire ice sheets covered the USA in places.... (An inconvient truth for Al I'm sure, so he avoided talking about it.)
Well, that ice melted, and guess what? WE ARE ALL THE BETTER FOR IT!!!
Ice comes and goes, the temp of the earth goes up, and then goes down, it's all controlled by the sun, and earth's relation to it combined with the sun's variable output over the ages. (Yes, our own sun is not constant, it produces more heat and radiation at times, and less at others, and they can predict it very well, much better than any GCM prediction to date.)
Oh, wait, how "inconvienent for me" Cries Al Gore... "If the sun actually controls the weather, global warming theory as we have presented it in this movie is BULLSHIT, and I'm just another ULEE whineing about not being elected president when I clearly lost the election...."

Ok, before you all set off to debunk what I've just posted. PLEASE look at Al's book.
Note the photos of the melting glaciers.
Note in the really old photo, you can see moran deposits of earth and rocks scraped off the mountains and left behind when the glaicier melts... (Normal stuff here, no need to debate this.)
Ok, look at where the glacier used to be... Notice that the Moran's extend down and out of the photos in both the OLD and the NEW photos... Guess what?
THAT MEANS THE GLACIERS HAVE BEEN MELTING FOR AGES. EVEN BEFORE, IN THE OLD PHOTOS, THEY WERE GETTING SMALLER, WE JUST DON'T HAVE PHOTOS OF THEM.
Let's get this straight. AL uses ice core data in his book to support different levels of C02 concentration in the atmosphere, but ignores the same ice core data that shows the earth has been warmer and cooler than it is now over the past 300,000 years of ice core data we have collected. (He only shows a graph of the Ice data that indicates temps from the past Ice age, and the warming up of the planet after that. about 90,000 years now...)
Why did Al ignore the other 200,000 or so years? Because it did not support his pet theory of MMGW. (Man made global warming.)
Like everyone in the MMGW camp, they only use what they want to support their theory, and they make great efforts to call any other data supported by Big Oil, or presented by "crackpot" scientists...
Al writes about CFC's and Ozone, but accounts the changes in the "hole" to our reduction of their use.. (Failing to note that scientists now know that CFC's had little or NOTHING to do with Ozone holes, it appears to be a natural change, and the hole is now gone for all intents and purposes... Wow, that did not take hundreds of years, and it did not roast us all alive unless we wear SPF 1billion sun block...) An Inconvienent truth there Al? Or you just forgot to mention that your full of bull shit?
I was really tempted to buy the book, and then debunk every page, but I really have better things to do with my time, and I'm sure most of you also have better things to do with your time than read his book, or watch his movie, and for goodness sake, don't vote for this DUMBASS ULEE.
