air in coolant system

i hear air in my coolant system. also i can kinda smell the coolant and my wind sheild gets a little foggy. my dad thinks that its my heater core.. and i got air in the system because i drained it to put a new head gasket and whatnot in.. just want to know of some ideas or thoughts on the heater core being the problem.

Where in Ny are you?? As for the air in the system.... Did you take the radiator cap off and start the car and let the coolant cycle around? I'm not sure about the heater core though. Never had a problem like that..
