Anyone running an aftermarket intake manifold for a 1jz with some before and after results? In the market for one and while I see the ones on eBay, I wonder how decent they are for the price and how much modification they need to install besides relocation of a few things. Also, is the godspeed intake any good? My battery is already relocated to the trunk so that's not an issue and I already have intercooler piping fabbed for the intake location.

The ebay ones are junk. Id stay away from them.

Seth makes fully cnc manifolds that are superb.

Are they junk meaning they flow less than stock? Or fall apart. Would cleaning them up some help?

I sent him a msg here and on supraforums, awaiting his response. When I checked his fs thread, he needed at least 5 1jz participants to make them, so not sure if he will make me one.

Thanks for the reply!

Meaning they have to be cut up and re welded. Unless you have a welder, which if you did you could make your own, then its going to cost just as much as to have seth or someone with a welder to make one.

If seth doesnt do 1jz ones, i know someone who makes manifolds. There about 700+ with tb and fully polished.

Thanks for the responses guys. So, for the eBay ones, do the ports just not line up to the stock runners? Curious on what needs to be re-welded. I am still waiting for a response from Seth, hopefully he'll update me soon.

hvyman - as for the 700$ intake, what's the story on that one? I'm interested as I have to get my project to a close and really will be needing the extra flow from a larger intake/throttle body.

Thanks,
Bill

It hits the shock tower and brake booster.

You sure you really need one. People have made over 600hp on stock manifolds...

Its just a custom built intake with what ever size tb you want and polished. If your serious pm me and ill give you his number to call.

This is on a SC300, same issues on that car? I'm sure I can get by without it, but I don't want to sacrifice top end and mid range for this project. The throttle body is awfully small as well. I can try it with the stock intake, but while I have it apart I want to get it over with. I'll shoot you a PM. Appreciate your help.

most folks with a 1J would never need one.. from the reputable guys I know that made decent power on 1Js and 1.5Js, the stock manifold will flow to about 600-700hp (as hvyman stated) before it needs to be upgraded.. if your goals are beyond that, well then I can see the reasoning.
