I have seen one of these shaved stockers, and i wouldn't trust it. It would have to be perfectly balanced tho right? Otherwise you would feel the vibration through the pedal and possible through the car? :dunno:

the one I saw used small peices of metal to balance it... after drilling the holes and such, which would scare the shit outta me, cause they might fly off @ 5800rpm when you're going 155MPH... ouch :kaboom:

dude, just get a fidenza or spec or RPS. Its worth the price tag. Also the stock flywheel weighs something like 30-40lb right? so 9lb off wouldn't help you that much i dont think...

let me know if this makes sense to anyone else or am i just talking crazy talk... :icon_roll

Stock flywheel weighs just over 20lbs. I have one in my garage at the moment that I can throw on the scales to check the weight if anyone really cares, but I weighed it way back when I took it off, and it was 22 or 23 lbs or something very close.

You can tell the disc is in backwards when it won't disengage all the way, even though you are getting full movement from the clutch slave and there is no air in your clutch hydraulics. Then when you take it apart, the disc will have the 'tall' side pointing towards the engine rather than the transmission. :)

Aha... So when you say 'tall' side you mean??? Sorry, i just can't envision it without looking at it? I'm putting one in this weekend is why I ask.

I come from a land down under
My Unorthadox Aluminium flywheel won't arrive in Australia until next week so I'll post pics then.

I'm building my own twin plate 9.5" clutch for the new motor and want the light flywheel to keep overall mass about the same as stock so the car should launch and drive the same as with a stock weight flywheel.

I have the fidenza and it was a snug fit. I bought it over 2 years ago but just now installed it. I do believe it is flush as driving with the HPF bronze clutch with ACT pp is butter smooth so far with just 120 miles.

I had the Fidenza and act pp fully balanced with all other moving drivetrain and engine parts. (except drive shaft) Some material was removed from each of them as in the pics. I am very pleased with the engagement of the clutch but i am still doing 1500 rpm+ launches. I am surprised so much material was removed from the act pp. I guess it is just an oem housing.

If you look at the disc itself, you'll know what I mean. One side is taller than the other... I don't happen to have a convenient picture here at the moment to show you exactly what I mean, but it's really quite obvious when you have one in your hands.
