ok, let me see if i can explain better. the cams, when reground, have 2.5mm taken off the base circle. which means the clearance is increased 2.5mm. the shims arnt that much thicker. so, to keep the stock shims. i would need to raise the buckets 2.5mm to bring them back to the proper clearance wit hthe cams. so, the best way to so this imho is to have some shims made that are 2.5mm thick, that will fit under the buckets on top of the valves. that way the stock shims can be used for a valve clearance adjustment as i have prolly 60-80 extra shims so would prefere to keep the stock shim setup. does this make sense now? and p5150, my head has already had a port job that cost over $1k and the new guides have been installed, i already have the 1mm os ss valves and ferrea titanium retainers. only thing left is to buy the comp cam valve springs, the new spring seats and keepers from toyota(im just anal like that) and the reground cams and adjustable gears. the only machine work left is to have the seats cut for the oversized valves and then have it surfaced. im waiting to have that done till i have the rest of the parts for the valve train as the machine shop said they may be able to get the valves shimmed properly for me. i even have the valve stem seals and cam seals. ill prolly have more pics of the headwork soon. my friend that did it took some good pics with his 35mm camera and has a couple left to use before getting them developed. he did it for me for cheap cause he's a friend, but clearwater cylinder head wanted $1200 for just the porting i wanted done. and i trust him as he's done work for me before. ive never seen a head that clearwater cylinder head has done before. also, the combustion chambers will be cc'ed once everything else is done.
