Aftermarket Ball joints - too much lube?

So, took it for a short drive tonight and the Supie's running great!! :naughty:

I've reinstalled the suspension components with the poly bushings. I replaced he lower ball joints in the front, with aftermarket ones which have zerk fittings for lube, and lubed away. Noticed today after a few days of sitting, that some of the lube has squeezed out of the boot on one of the ball joints (dripping onto the pavement). :icon_conf

I'm assuming I over-lubed it. Question is, is the fix as simple as pushing the boot back down into place while on the car, or will I have to remove the balljoint to do it properly. Or, did I F it up and gonna have to replace it shortly?

Was planning to take it in for an alignment in the AM, so some timely advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
E

I just did mine as well, over greasing happens all the time especially at quicky lube places where they have the air compressed grease gun, usually you can clean it, reposition the boot and it will be fine as long as the pressure didn't split the boot. How is the ride and steering now? Any big differance?

Feels solid... Good sporty feel from the new struts/springs/and bushings. I guess this was what it should have felt like new!?!?

I do still need to replace the sway bar bushings (I know, shame on me), but it definitely feels like it can handle already. I have not taken it over 60 mph yet, but we'll see what I can do this evening ;-)

^^No sheeyat! Talk about the concept-Supra!!!

It's kewl now. Just the cosmetics to take care of. Hindsight, I shoulda just fixed the 2JZ-VVTi. Would've been on the road a loooong time ago.... AND I loved that engine!! Looked great and NO ONE has it in an MKIII (AFAIK).

Steering feels a bit stiffer from left-to-right. Dunno if that was the ball joints or not. the BJs I got (wow, this could be another topic;-) were off of Ebay and had Moog part numbers... Maybe $70 for both after shipping. Fit and work great! Just don't over-lube :)

Yeah if u over do it and dont clean it up and set the boots right it will allow dirt in and reduce the life of the joint. Glad to hear she is running right. Are you gonna make it to the Austin drive in November? I'd realy like to see this beast.:naughty:
