Aftermarket antenna (for 3-piece spoiler)

Okay ya'll.... searched and searched and still no definitive answers.

I used an aftermarket ~$40 antenna (Hirsch) for my 87T and all was good. I now have a 90 and 91 and have not been able to verify which one I can use, which would work w/the 3-piece spoiler.

Is anyone using a non-Toyota one with their 3-piece spoiler? If so, what brand, part/model number, workaround worked for you?

Thanx,
E

Why not just use a Toyota antenna? Why aftermarket?

Replace the "RC car" type antenna when the radio is on?

Mine still works, and I can't see it while I'm driving, so I'm happy with the stock one. But if the motor breaks, I'll be looking aftermarket.

Missing one right now. Stock is ~$200+ from what I remember... I use a 10-disc changer most of the time, but having one that goes up and down like stock, is kewl.

There is also an antenna built into the rear glass. You may not even need an external one. Anyone tried using just that one only?

Yes I did and it doesn't work at all. The OEM antenna is the way to go. I bought a new one from Toyota a few months back for 250.00 CAD dollars. Nice and clean IMO and I wouldn't go to an aftermarket.

^hey hey don't say it doesn't work at all. it works pretty good..just not great at times

I will say it doesn't work because it simply doesn't. If the car has an antenna, it is obviously there for a reason, otherwise it wouldn't have come with one ;)

I guess I may go with a stock one... just kinda pricey compared to the aftermarket options for the non-3 piece ones.

I just switched mine to the rear glass one (removed the antenna about a year ago) And mine gets PERFECT reception with the window (i Do still have the old antenna wire running back to the dead motor however then spliced the 2 together)
