After market oil pan

The machine shop called me today and he was asking if the factory oilpan was big enough to accommodate for a high hp motor. He said it seemed small. I am curious if there higher volume pans that you guys are using or are the stock ones able to handle it. I should be in the 550hp range on a 7mgte. Any advise would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly, drjonez used to make larger capacity steel pans. Or you could try to source an uber rare Group A magnesium oil pan. Larger capacity, better baffling, all around awesomesauce.

Running a larger oil cooler can provide extra capacity as well.

As stated, most of us run larger oil coolers so there's some increased capacity.

search around, many people have modified the stock pan by adding kickouts to the sides of the pan, and baffling around the stock pickup.

I'm pretty sure you can buy sides to weld on to your oil pan to gain extra capacity. I think summit or jegs may sell them.

I assume since he only builds race engines (drag, dirt, street) and has been in business for 40 years he would be right. I was glad to see when I went in there that he uses a torque plate. Said he wouldn't go without one. He is the one that told me to ask you guys what you think. He does deal with mostly American. I don't think that he was taking into consideration that I am running a larger romote oil filter and cooler.

I beleive Rich at SIP sells a modified pan. Was going to buy his until I snagged the one of drjonez' car.
