Yikes! Four to six week job turned into three months! But my car is back and it looks great (these pics aren't hiding anything!):

The color is what Toyota calls a white pearl crystal. It is found on the latest toyotas and lexus. A better description would be its a white metallic. It sparkles in the sun. Check out any new white lexus to see it. All the window trim was repainted black.

I have a very nice set of foglights, haven't had a chance to install them. Wipers haven't been installed yet, hope to get those painted this weekend. I plan to replace the orange side-markers because these are very foggy and don't look right with the clear side-markers and turn signals. Rear taillights were replaced and got new seals.

Prior to the paintjob, car got a new hood, hatchback, front bumper and two front mudflaps.

The bodyshop put a tiny black pinstrip at the top of all the body moldings. Not sure if I like this yet or not, but its easy to remove. It does make the moldings stand out more.

Bodyshop forgot to put the new seals on for the spoiler, and they forgot to hook up the 3rd brake light. A coupla of bulbs had broken filaments.

In true Supra-style, my car saved up 3 months worth of aggravation for the first weekend I got it back. Here's the list of annoyances in no particular order:

- Radiator was nearly empty (thank God for the birdcage!). I'm at a loss as to how this happened. No leaks that I can find.
- Serious power steering leak. If you look closely in the first photo, you will clearly see lines of fluid on the concrete where I make the turn into my garage. Only see the lines in the turn itself. At first I was putting fluid in daily, now I haven't topped it off for a coupla days. Perhaps the hose had dried up and shrunk during those three months??
- CPS wire is more finicky than ever. Hit a bump the wrong way and the car dies. Jeff at Champ says wiring harness for automatics have been discontinued!
- New lip is great, but it drags on everything, including my driveway (my garage is in the walk-out basement). My 3" downpipe drags at the top of the driveway.
- New targa seals still allow water to fall on my lap! UGH! The ones that go on the targa itself had to be trimmed in order to fit the targa back into the car.
- Gas gauge doesn't go up to the top mark anymore when full. On the second fill-up, it went a little higher.

Like to hear your comments/suggestions. Right now my priority is to get some jack stands and see how bad that high-pressure PS hose is. I also need to get wipers back on and foglights installed. The CPS wire is also at the top of my list.

I really missed my car. But I really didn't miss all the aggravation.

Note to IJ: No, I haven't forgotten my promise. These pics are topless, but there will be more!

car looks nice

im in the same boat as you what was supposed to be a 2 - 4 week job turned out to be 3 months because of some things unexpected and that meant some things had to be ordered from toyota and something from a member on the forum here

some minor things are being fixed and i should have it by this weekend

here is my build thread http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77500

That is a VERY Sessy-lookin' car! Almost makes me wish I'd bought another white one.....lol. Truth be told though, when I was lookin' for a replacement, it was either gonna be White or the Graphite...or whatever they call it...

Car looks beautiful! Well worth the wait I'd say. Hope you enjoyed your time
off from the aggravation, now it's back to the real world of Supras. You might
want to get a set of the clear bubble lenses from Wolfie they are very nice
and would look great on your car IMO.

Not trying to sink your ship but just going to let you know:
-window trim is rubber, painting it is a bad idea

-if you had to trim the targa seals, they wheren't put on right

-water on your lap is because you have to pull the drip rail off and re-seal it to the targa(requires removal of the seal)

-the actual sensor in the gas tank might have gotten a bit rusty, give it some time and it might wear back through and be accurate again

Well, the window trim was pretty sorry looking, polishing didn't help. I felt I had nothing to lose. We'll see.

The two targa seals for the targa itself were just too long ! After trimming they are flush with the seals on the car. I apparently didn't put enough sealant on the seals themselves. I will have to pull them off and try again. I had used an adhesive sealant for windshields. It will probably destroy the seals to take them off. We'll see. Right now I don't drive it in the rain :)

Other gripes that I forgot to add:
- comfort control fan is now very noisy. Suppose the bearings are shot in it.
- replaced the DS door lock button and the little wire pigtail that is connected to it. Now when I unlock the DS door, the alarm goes off. Nice. Had to use the PS lock to re-enable the starter. Nothing like having your car honking and flashing in the parking lot of bar at 1AM.

Ah, but I missed it while it was in the shop..

Just curious gentlemen. But what have you fellas that have had these paint jobs paid? I'm about to start on my car through a local shop and they say with stripping everything and all new trim and mouldings, and re-strengthening the frame, i'm looking at about 8k-10k depending. Now I don't mind paying it given thats normal average for what i'm doing. Now mind you they are removing all panels they can, removing enging/interior and respraying the frame black, and the car body seperatly.

That sounds about right for that amount of work....you could probably cut that in half though, if you did all that yourself...and just bring them the shell and body panels.....let them put all the panels back on though, then you put the motor/drivetrain back in and whatever else (like interior most likely...)

Hard wire the CPS by cutting off the plug and soldering the wires. Solved my issue with it! And yes, you need to unbolt and reseal the drip rails to the targa, on top of the new seals.

I feel the same as you. My car looks amazing, but I've spent days on annoying shit that makes the car seem old and junky, with tons left to do.

The seals are made to the right length, don't stretch em. Gotta work from the ends to the center.

They are NOT to be glued in place! Previous owner made the same mistake on my car, they fight into the channels and have adhesive strips in some small places.

It's all covered in the TSRM if you look... Also, I sprayed mine with silicone spray the first time I put the targa on so it slipped in right. It's a tight fit until the seals break in a bit (think of an insole of a shoe).

To answer another question, replacing or recoating is the only way to fix the trim.

True but I'd probably get something confused and/or lost, lol. If i could pick up a full set of SG interior then i'd just scrap all the interior as is. But i'm waiting on another CF thread to see what all is offered for the int that way i know what i Need to buy and what i don't need to buy. lol.
