A buddy of mine bought one for like 100 bucks from ebay. worked good for a bit but then ruptured the diaphragm inside, and stared to leak from afpr halves.

I think anything that is name brand and not a knock off, given the brand has good rep, would work. I just wouldnt go for the 70-80 dollar ebay "kits". quality and reliability are not cheap.
Alot of guys run aeromotive here. If you can't afford a quality unit, dont buy one at all. Cheaping out on integral parts usually leads to catastrophic failure at some point. Not saying you were looking to cheap out, but just keep this in mind. I dont mind spending an extra hundred dollars on a FPR if it means I dont have to worry about it. If I cant afford to do it right, I leave it alone.
very true. fuel pressure is, from what i am beginning to understand, is very critical on boosted cars, not enough and your lean, which will cause serious damage.
I know suprarich and driftmotion sell kits for our cars. Do business with vendors and avoid ebay fees and parts that don't fit.
Mainly from what I heard from ebay units is the diaphragm ruptures then leaks fuel out typically resulting in a car fire.

ebay kit has two post resulting in same outcome, so you are better off investing in a good one and being done. The driftmotion kit i think is under 300 with everything, lines gauge, reg, j-tube bypass, and so on.

Most of the eBay FPR's have crappy diaphragms. I've known a few guys to get the ebay aeromotive knockoff and replace the diaphragm with a genuine Aeromotive and have no problems.
Not saying I would do it though, I bought the real deal. The fuel system is not a place I would cheap out.

I bought a "meghan Racing" FPR from EBAy.. worst mistake ever. I don't see whats the issue here? if you want to buy one off ebay, but an aeromotive FPR.. its a proven, and reliable piece.. i got mine of ebay for 140$ shipped. I went to a local hardware store and bought the necessary fittings and did it. Its not a complicated piece to hook up. Its not like its super expensive so there's no reason to skimp out here when it comes to Fuel+boosted car. skimp in other areas.. like rims, lights, cool carbon fiber pieces that don't affect the reliability of your engine.
There's a lot of counterfeit parts from China on eBay. Personally I won't buy name brand parts there for that reason. I've seen people loose $5K motors because of counterfeit Walbro pumps that they got on eBay for $20 less than from a real vendor. I'd suggest buying from a reputable vendor.
Currently have an Aeromotive installed. However, I've been looking into trying one of those new Synapse AFPR's since there's no diaphram to rupture; not that I've heard of an Aeromotive diaphragm failing
