Support is a big plus, especially for dealers who support you. Motec is second to none in this regard, and is the reason they are my only choice when it comes to doing custom off the wall projects (working on a couple exotics at the moment). Without that support, I cannot support my customers and we all lose.

AEM used to be pretty good, but staffing changes have left it a ghost town down there. Thankfully for most day to day stuff, the system has been around long enough no real support outside a knowledgable dealer/tuner is needed.

To illustrate what John is talking about I just got off the phone from MoTeC :)

I needed to bounce a few ideas off one of their engineers about further fuel system mods here and received their usual stellar assistance.

NOTHING I'm doing has ever been done before so this sort of support is priceless and I'd have been floundering without it.

Follow the CAN BUS down the road to poverty. :biglaugh::biglaugh:

Wow at that price. I'm sure its worth it if you have that kind of money to spare but wow.

20k for that jpg that John posted is cheap in racing.

Bosch Motronic MS 5.2

ECU alone is just 21,000 EUR ($31,607 USD)
Add the Bosch DDU 4 4,500 EUR ($6772)
Application Support for Bosch to program the ECU for application...
Est. 40,000 EUR ($60,204 USD)

Total in that beast is 98,000 and that is not including the minor stuff.

They are also coming out with small "PLM" modules (no display) to drive a wideband sensor. You can run up to 12 of these, and they all communicate over the CAN BUS to the ECU or ADL. :)

Maybe you just need one of these:

CAN BUS shift light, can program pattern and color in software. :evil2::evil2:

Go with the 1GB ACL logger or the SLM as John posted above. Full configurable.

Speaking of MoTeC....

John have you tried running the Bosch 4.9 wideband on the MoTeC?

Hey Ron,

I found your device!!

MoTeC PDM coming soon

MoTeC Aus said:
The PDM32 is designed to replace conventional relays, fuses and circuit breakers by providing electronically switched power to the various electrical systems in the vehicle, including motors, lights, solenoids and electronic devices such as ECUs and data systems. This simplifies wiring and switch requirements, while increasing reliability.

The PDM32 has 32 outputs. Each output is overcurrent protected and can be controlled via any combination of switch inputs, CAN messages and logic functions. In addition to performing simple functions such as flashing indicator lights, the logic functions can be used to selectively turn off systems during low battery voltage or engine starting, to
reduce drain on the battery.
The PDM32 also provides full diagnostic information, including output currents and error status, that can be monitored on a PC or transmitted via CAN to a display or logging device.

I looked at the SLM but was put off that it can only be driven by a single channel.

ie: All lights = boost

well you can technically run two.

The Driver warning and the shift table assigned one (be it boost or RPM etc)

Now if you had an SDL/ADL2...... Then you have room for 4 condition plus 1 WARNING plus 4 shift lights conditions... ;)

Ha ha, I've seen that! I dunno I like my wiring the way it is. This thing will simplify everything. Anyway, I thought someone asked, yes I have a CDI-8. So, the system consists of: M820, CDI-8, ADL, TCM, E888. Wiring was fun to do. Pretty straightforward as long as you know how to read diagrams. All wires are tefzel, same thing used on military and commercial airplanes, will probably outlast the motor or car. Doing the wiring this way will eliminate any future failures caused by old and corroded stock wiring. Plug and play is nice if your existing harness is in good shape though.
Also, if you have good understanding of how the basics work, know the terms, the motec is very user friendly. I find it easier than Duane's TEC-II, or Nate's AEM. But maybe that's because I started with the motec.

Hey Ron,

Ahh ok I didn't remember if you had the CDI-8 or not :)

As for tefzel, of course, you are in the aerospace industry. carry that probably by the 5000ft rolls! :) I wish i was in the Air Force as they had it in those rolls to! :) And you are right. No fires under YOUR dash! ;)

Ron: I came from Wolf ECU's and while the concepts are much the same there is the MoTeC speak to learn but agreed once you figure out the syntax for how they do things it's great.

I started with the Version 3 software and for me this is a HUGE advantage as everything I'm doing is a bit left of centre so it gives me the flexability to do things my way :)

Version 2 software I believe is much more user friendly as in plug device a into pin b set to xx and it does exactly what you expect!

Congrats, yet another MoTeC user here!

I'm wanting the MDD next I think. Then I will expand to more serious stuff next year :)
