I am running an AEM UEGO gauge and would like to use the data logging features so I can monitor and adjust my SAFC II, but I don't know where to start. Supposedly they come with a serial connection (RS 232) to enable data logging. Has anyone done this with their UEGO? Do you have to have some kind of software? I know AEM has there Pro-Gauge software, but not sure if that will work with the UEGO gauge.
Any help, advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I have mine successfully wired up in my EVO. You can easily record data from the COM port using HyperTerminal, but it is only useful if you have a way to log at least your RPMs by.. otherwise you'll get a big list of AFRs and you'll have to best guess where it all maps out.

It was a pain to get to datalog, I had some issues at first. The trick that solved it for me was to ground the guage and the cable to the same spot (I orginally had them in different spots). I don't have any pics of that, but I do have pics of how I made my cable:

I was on guam and had a spare serial cable, but you can get the parts you need from radio shack without needing rip a cable apart like I did. The directions will tell you which pins to hook the wires to. Take youre time and make sure you are hooking them to the correct pins.

If you could figure out a way to get rpms in there that would be ideal, the dynojet ive used tapped into the #1 injector wire but required adjustments so it was accurate.

Log with the safc on rpms only and start the aem log at the same time... sketchy but what else can we do?

I am in the process of hooking mine up now. The cable you seek does NOT come with the gauge. You have to buy it seperately or build your own.

Like Hitman said, the instructions indicate what pins to use when making your own cable. If you're half-way computer savy, you should be able to build the cable no problem.

If you don't have your instructions and need to know pin outs and such, just let me know. I'll get you whatever info you need.

Will do grim.

I'll also post some info from the instructions when I get them back from my welder. I remember reading something about it interfacing with some AEM software; but, don't remember the details.

He took the instructions so he could refer to the sensor install requirements. It has to be welded in at 10* to help reduce/prevent moisture collection on the sensor itself. He should get it back to me tomorrow. Saturday at the latest!

Nite nite time for me...

Ok. Got my downpipe and UEGO instructions back today. Nice weld by the way! :)

The instructions refer to AEM EMS for data-logging. I thought it was a little more detailed than that. It tells you what wires to hook up to where on your EMS to collect and import the AFR data into your EMS software.

As mentioned above, the instructions state that if you use the Hyperterminal, you are ONLY collecting the AFR data. Which is grim's point.

I have a Maft-Pro so I'll be sending the data from my UEGO to my Maft for data logging.

Don't know if that clears anything up; but, if you need any other info from the instructions, let me know.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the responses. Yeah I remember there being a feature for data logging on the UEGO, but I don't have the AEM EMS to import it to, I am still on the stock ecu. I am pretty sure I can semi-log RPM with my SAFC II but I don't know how to do it with the UEGO with out an EMS.
If any of you are on similar setups and have figured out how to log AFRs let me know!
Thanks again for all the replies.

I'm not all familiar with the SAFC II at all; but, did it come with it's own software?

Also, does it have a 0-5v input?

If it came with software and has an input, you should be able to import the data from the Uego. That's what I'm doing with the Maft-Pro.

Consult your instructions of course...

I'm sure someone will chime in that can help out better than me! ;)

Yeah I don't believe it have an input, but it does monitor RPMs, So I guess I need to either get a maft-pro or find some kind of software that I can use to monitor the 0-5V feed from the UEGO gauge. Does anyone know if the AEM Pro-Gauge software would do this and if it would work with the UEGO?
Thanks again guys for all the help.
