AEM EMS Training Class

Hey Guys/Gals,

I thought I would mention this here first, since the signal to noise ratio is better than most places. I am about to roll out a training class, and was first gauging interest from various communities. It will probably be a 2 day (or evening) affair, focused on teaching you the end user (or shop) how to use the software, how to setup/tune all the aspects of it (idle, boost control, fuel/ign tables, trim maps, etc etc etc) in laymans terms that anyone can take advantage of. The training will be on location in areas of interest, and will work with a host shop facility for the training.

I will probably have actual tuning sessions available also, for those that simply just want to get their car tuned.

Cost for the 2 day course would be in the area of $350-$400, international slightly more depending on airfare cost at the time. A text book will also be included, that will make a good quick reference guide for future use. I will limit classes to a maximum of 12 people per location.

It will be held at any shop with a dyno, that wants to host a gathering. I already do a lot of travel tuning, so taking the classes on the road is not a big deal.

About time that you take this on! You have the know how on all things standalone so this should help with the begginers!

John, would this be 350 to 400 for each person or for the class with up to 12 people? If it is 350 to 400 for the 2 day class I wouldn't mind setting up one for out here in Asscrack, Va even it was just for me to get more comfortable with maybe some features I'm not using my AEM for. I also have a friend who just rewired a Honda AEM box to run his 96 240 SX with a 4.5 Q45 v8 with a 72 mm turbo on it.

I would definately be interested. I live in Bend Oregon and would be willing to come to portland if you held a class up there. Would you be planning to do the class on weekends?

Thanks for the input guys, and we can certainly set one up at any location! All I need is a willing shop space and people that want to attend.

I could do Motec if there is enough interest, and also ProEFI when the software becomes available. I am flexible, and can tailor it to suit the needs of an individual group of students.

Also, what would be the general preference (though in reality I will probably do both). A couple of evenings durning the week (say 5-10pm or similar) or a 1.5 day class over a weekend?

I really want to attend one of these the weekend thing sounds like a winner for me. Let me know when you want to set one up I might have to fly out to it but tuning is one thing I really want to learn more about.

I would really prefer a weekend class, since there is probably not enough interest here in the Bend Oregon area to jusify a class. I guess I could go talk to the guy with the dyno though and see if he knew of anyone else that is interested.

anything in the north east and i would love to attend. (beware never used AEM) i dont mind driving a ways either so if its within say from syracuse, ny to nc or va but would have to be on a weekend for me

I would pay for it. Houston would be a good place for one of these classes. It would be cool if you could get certified by AEM after taking the class. I'm sure plenty of shops would like to have an "AEM EMS Specialist".

I can all ready tune my own car pretty well and familiar with the basic setup and tuning, and not sure if it would be worth it?

I will be covering it all, from the basics of getting started, to setting up advanced portions of the software. As to if the class would benefit you, my rule of thumb with most classes is I usually figure I will learn something even by reviewing what I know from a different perspective and it has held suprisingly true. Sounds like you are off on a good start with the AEM, though if you have areas you would like to know more about post it up and I will explain more what will be covered.
