Need some advice on shocks for my 87t MkIII.
I dont expect going over 300-350 Hp and my 20 years old shocks need to be change.
I want to keep my TEMS so i guess i have only 2 options.

1. Stock strud stock springs

2. Tokico + Eibach and i guess ill need alignement + camber ajustement ect...

What u guys think?

Thx in advance

#2 would always keep you happy, and better in the long run, or you could just get some OEM style struts, i think they make some for the TEMS.

If you like going around corners fast, definitely upgrade as the stock spring/struts are horribly deficient. If you just like going fast in a straight line, stick with stock suspension.

I wouldn't pair the Tokico Illumina II's with Eibachs. The Tokico struts are notorious for blowing prematurely, probably from being improperly paired with springs that are too strong. Eibachs are ~750 lb progressive IIRC, I'd stick with a linear spring no more then 500 lb.

I've got an '87 NA and went through the same thing you're going thru. I did get Tokicos because they were and may still be the only replacement struts for TEMS. But I didn't want to lower my car too much with springs. So I opt to go with coilovers. I see no advantage with TEMS unless you like the lights on the dash. I was happy with the Tokicos, much happier than the stock struts. The adjustability of coilovers gives you the freedom to tune the struts and the height of the vehicle to what ever suits your needs. But it is expensive.

I can't remember which company stopped offering springs for the MA70, but both Suspension Techniques and Tokico used to make a decent linear rate spring for the Supra. I've run both in the past and enjoyed the ride quality of both. Last I heard one of those companies still offers a spring kit.

The other choice would be to not run the Tokico Illumina II's. Their ability to work with TEMS is nice, but TEMS is unfortunately a limited system and I wouldn't base my purchase on TEMS only. Even with Illumina II's and a decent spring the different between soft and firm isn't very large. Keeping your strut options open will certainly open up more options for the spring. Then again you could get lucky and the Illumina II's might last for a long while on stiffer springs.
