Hahaha you guys are hilarious!! But on a serious note what are the pros and cons to those 2 motors? 1J 2J? Id imagine 1J revs higher due to smaller displacement. Quicker boost? I dont know.... teach mongo!!!!:biglaugh: Also for the swap when I get the motor do I need the tranny that comes with 2j. And my car is an 87 is that a problem? Also once the motor is in how hard is it to work on? Is it tight? Hahaha we got mortered yesterday!!! Its funny when your around this shit everyday you get numb to crazy shit like that.
THAT IS CRAZY......Talk about an alarm clock to wake you up.... Be safe my friend, really!
To answer your question. Yes a 1j will give a 2j a nasty run. YOu'll be very sureprise of how quickly the 1j stretches its legs. They both have there ups and downs. It all depends what your power goals are. IF you are going to stay under 600rwhp, In my opinion I'd go 1j, over that 2j all the way. Yes 1j revs higher, 2j has more torque. 2j will spool a turbo faster(more displacement) 1j will be laggy until 4k (approx. depends on your turbo set-up)
If you have a 5speed MKIII turbo, then you can just do a couple of things: 1) get complete engine without tranny, but you'll need to source a flywheel and bellhousing. You can user back your clutch and pressure plate. This will run you in the range of $1600-2100 (depends where you shop) plus around $400 for the BH & FW.
2) you can just pick up a complete motorset with tranny then turn around and sell your current set up and make a couple hundred bucks back. A complete motorset will run around 2300-2600 or so. Again, depends where you shop.
Option 1, would be your route if you go 2j. You can find a good 2j auto from an aristo for around $2400, you'll need to change the oil pan to rear sump sinc e the Aristo comes with a front sump. then find a BH & FW
Hope this helps...... Keep the question coming......
