Have those always been there and I just didn't notice them?

No, I'm experimenting with some ideas to offset the sites bandwidth costs. We're starting to eat a prolific amount of bandwidth.

I'm just messing with the template to see how it looks, and if it interferes with the site working properly.

LOL. Funny this should come up as I was just going to ask about it.

Ads are fine with me (especially since it costs nothing to be a member) as long as it doesn't get crazy like I see on some forums. Top, bottom, sides are fine with me but when they get sandwiched between posts or are "automated" posts it becomes a little intrusive.

Just my opinion... if you feel like listening.

No, I'd never do any of that crap. When it interferes with the use of the forum, it's garbage. The banner that's up there right now is just too big. I'll try some smaller stuff and if I can't find something that works, we'll do something else.

I agree, especially because hosting this site has to be pretty pricey. I think they'd look better centered or shrunk a little with two seperate bricks up top. The site might look a little weird with side ads, though

Just posted about this in the site suggestion area...

Anyway, can we have "premium accounts" where you pay like $20 a year for no adds ect? One of my favorite tekken sites does that... even have a premium member section.

The small strip is excellent, almost unnoticeable.

That's what I was looking for. No major change to the way the site works.

I dislike the premium accounts idea

I can see pro's and con's to it. However the one thing that worries me about the idea is what would "premium" content be? Denying people access to information would be so contrary to the idea of SM that it wouldn't work.

We could offer some services, like @supramania.com email addresses and webmail accounts, but is that something someone would pay for? If so how many? Would it be worth the support costs, etc?

I accidently clicked it trying to click the new posts button.

Hrm...

That worries me. We certainly don't want to "trick" people into clicking the links.

But I think the extra spacing messes up the way the page works.

You guys tell me, add some room around that bar?

The gap like it is now, just move it down to the main body, rather then the header. If it blends in to the main body, no one will accidentally click it, there isn't anything there

Spacing between the ads and the navigation bar at the top would fix what I mentioned.

Just a space or two. It is pretty easy to miss and click an ad when it is that close.

If it does not work, then that is fine too. I will just learn to be more careful when I click...

Exactly why I was against it. If premium users got email accounts or something, that would be quite different.

Ad bar looks good.
