I come from a land down under
There is such a thing as rich detonation, rare but it can happen.

My learning experience was my first car, bought a junkyard 5.0L Holden V8 for it hammered the crap out of it and kept breaking the Skirts off one piston at a time, repaired it a bunch of times before biting the bullet and rebuilding it like I should have BEFORE it went into the car ;)
(I was young and stupid)

I am young and stupid lol (23 years of Age) it's my daily or was but that's okay i can bus it to work for a little while i have a little cash saved up and i knew it was coming eventually so no real shock factor in it happening for me.

That's what it sounded like was Detonation but only at very low rpm and once i got above 1600rpm or so it went away sounded like popcorn

well so maybe i'm a little dumb after sitting for awhile i decided to check compression

160-165 across the board hmm...

So i figured i'd put it back together and try and start it started right up no problem.... No smoke no strange noises at all....

So at this point i'm like WTF so then i figured out that my water pump is leaking out the hole in the bottom

I checked codes and got 22 (water temp sensor) and 41 (tps)

So the motor sounds great at idle and free revving (didn't drive the car)

My only worry is the excessive smoke (maybe a BHG but compression says other wise)

Please, please please please, hide the keys from yourself. Search this engine up and down and side to side then once you think you figured it out, search more. What happened to you was your engine telling you something is fucking wrong. Just because it went away and is driving 'great' doesn't mean it won't happen again. We've tried to warn you that you're risking the engine. Also, take a little advice from your signature..

Lol i just replaced some of the little things(water pump/fan clutch) i know it has problems and i always fix them when i find them.

Sometimes its not easy to findustry them. I bought a block and head yesterday and i think important going to send my spare harness to Dr. Tweak or go ahead and go mega squirt and make my own .

Important just confused why it was smoking so much. And the smkke seed to be a bhg but the compression was still good.

Like i said its a learning opportunity for me and shit if it breaks i have to learn how to fix it because i Cant afford a mechanic lol.

But as always i appreciate everyones help and words.
