So i finally got my aeromotive afpr on and my car seems to be around 45 pounds of fuel pressure

And its running so rich when press the gas it goes to 10afrs and when it starts hitting boost car starts to choke out and black smoke pours out my exhaust

Idle is 15-16afrs
Cruise is now 13 - 13.6 afrs

Set it to around 36 psi. Stock fuel pressure is 33-40 psi. More fuel pressure doesn't mean more power.

Now i think the bouncing has to do with the very slight miss i can hear at the exhaust but canter see on the tach only misses at idle.

But how do i go about adjusting the afpr ? Do i have to do it when the car is at idle or...

Just want to be sure.

I turned down my fuel pressure to 36 and it no longer has the choking problem / massive black smoke

But my afrs are still sitting at 10.0 in full boost.

So how do i no whats the best fuel pressure for my setup ? Should i just keep slowly droping the pressure to try and lean it put a little ? i do not have a safc or any piggyback

Well, you're running 550's and a lex afm which will normally make you run 10's under full throttle anyways. That's why people say you get a safc to at least pull some fuel from the very rich spots. What your almost doing is getting cylinder wash, I bet your oil smells heavily like fuel. Just remember, the more base fuel pressure you pull, the more the ecu will try to compensate to keep the afr's where it was programmed to.

Also you dont think its a good idea to try 30 fp

Oil that smells of fuel THAT bad isn't lubricating like it should be anymore.. Think what fuel does to oil, it dilutes it heavily. What do you use to clean off oil/grease from parts? A petroleum(Gas) based cleaner. Stop pushing this engine before it's not there to push anymore..

Set your base fuel pressure at idle with the vacuum reference to the AFPR disconnected. Then reconnect the hose. You should see the pressure drop even further at idle when the engine is pulling vacuum.

So as of now ive got some problems.

Changed oil wasnt really to bad.

Fuel pressure is 36 2
With vac line off and 27-28 with it on.

Now my new problem fixed a lwaky exhaust gasket and then my car started smoking like crazy if i rev it (smells like normal exhaust tho) (color is greyish alittle black)

The egr line that is right under the vavle runs down to the metal line about 6inches long tore so i replaced it woth regular vaccination line for now but car still is smoking

Any thoughts?

So it happened.... I went to best buy about 9miles away from home noticed much smoke everytime i first accelerated.

Then when i got there i noticed smoke from my engine bay and my temp gauget pinned. So i turned off the car and temp gauge went down instantly.

Popped my hood and smoke seemed to be coming from turbo and cps area smelled like nothing really.

So i went outside and started home as soon as i leveled out at 40mph in 5th gear everytime i touched the gas i heard what sounded like a can of marbles (rod knock in my haed) 30sec pass and it sound like at lower speeds 10-20mph as if i had a missfire.

I came to a red light and car shut off and never turned back on.

Currently on tow truck on its way home

Bit of a heads up where the SS line is routed over/behind the Alternator, INSULATE it there have been a few cars burn to the ground when the line has shorted.

Thanks yeah i had bought a plastic cover for it a couple days ago but no use for it now ATM lol

Racing while the car was lame doesn't seem like such a good idea now I bet :(
Definitely a lesson learned :)

It's okay i already have most of the engine taken apart about to take of the exhaust and turbo/EX Manifold and then the head.

So if anyone has a 7MGTE block in good shape Long/Short let me know has to have known good compression please!

It's a lesson we all learn at some point but quite a few here don't "get it" the first 5>10 times... ;)
I knew i was pushing it just thought i was okay with the rich issue i had not really knowing that i was that rich but hey i don't plan on giving up will report back with some photo's of the block when i get there :)
