Ok so I was wondering about doing this. I got the "locknut" loosened and was wondering which way the rod should turn to give the pedal more play?

You want to make the distance between the pedal and the master cylinder shorter. Just loosen the locknut slightly then turn the rod until the locknut becomes tight again like it was. Righty tighty, lefty loosy.

If only the TSRM was 2 pages:
page 1 - Lefty Loosey
page 2 - Righty Tighty

Whats wrong with the pedal now?
You can see which way the pedal goes when you move the rod, then tighten the nut. As the clutch wears the pedal will drop over time and will have to be adjusted back out to about 1/3 to 1/2" freeplay.
Then bleed it.
